The Pulau Redang Marine Park is situated
in the South China Sea, off the north-eastern coast of the
State of Terengganu. This Marine Park consists of waters surrounding
9 islands and they are, Pulau Redang itself, Pulau Pinang,
Pulau Lima, Pulau Ekor Tebu, Pulau Lang Tengah, Pulau Perhentian
Besar, Pulau Perhentian Kecil, Pulau Susu Dara and Pulau Kapas.
These islands have fringe coral reefs superior to any in Malaysia
and rank as one of the best in the world.

Pulau
Redang is the largest of all the islands in this Marine Park.
This island is very suitable for snorkellers and swimmers
because of its crystal clear water filled with marine life.
The white sandy beaches are also perfect for relaxation, picnics
and campings. There are many resorts with rooms and chalets
for rental to the public, many of which are of international
standards. There is also a fishing village with most of its
houses on stilts.

Situated
at the southern tip of Pulau Redang, is Pulau Pinang. The
calm and clear water surrounding this island provides enjoyable
and spectacular spots for swimming, snorkelling and diving.
The fishes around this island are so well protected that they
are not afraid of human beings and can be hand-fed. The sea
surrounding this island is very popular with snokellers because
of its abundance of fishes and corals.

No fishing
is allowed within a 3.2 km radius of the island as Pulau Redang.
The collection of corals and other aquatic life is also prohibited.
The fines and penalties are severe and each year sees reports
of arrests and fines. Activities prohibited and not allowed
are:

- Collecting and taking of aquatic life ( corals, shell
or fishes whether living or alive ).
|
- Fishing without a license
& Causing Pollution (3.2 km radius), i.e. littering
Possession of spear fishing equipment.
